Vail Fire and Emergency Services (VFES) is reaching out to the community to provide information, gather feedback and answer questions regarding a proposal under consideration to help property owners protect their structures, as well as all residents and guests, from the threat of wildfire. “Fire Free Five” regulations would require a five-foot-wide zone of non-combustible landscaping around all buildings in Vail.
Community members are encouraged to learn how the proposal can help protect the town and assist with property insurability while maintaining attractive landscaping. Program details and a short survey for Vail residents can be found at www.EngageVail.com/firefreefive.
- An open house is scheduled for 4:30 to 6 p.m. on July 10 in the Vail Town Council Chambers, which will include a short presentation on Fire Free Five at 5 p.m. followed by time for questions and answers.
