Here’s a recap of the various construction projects currently underway in Vail.

Featured Projects
Dobson Arena Remodel, 321 West Meadow Drive
Crews continue to work on the interior of the arena, doing demo and lighting work. Outside, crews began work on the columns for the new locker rooms at the back of the arena. Holy Cross Energy has activated temporary transformers to get power to the building. There will be full road closures and single-lane closures of West Meadow Drive throughout the project. Please avoid the area if possible and follow all instructions given by the traffic control personnel. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026. Contractor is Hyder Construction. Timber Ridge Village
Work on utilities within the construction site is ongoing and plans are underway for a water line relocation and installing gas service lines. Crews are prepping the grade on the access road to allow easy access for the modular units. Modulars are starting to stage in Wolcott and are scheduled to start mobilizing to the site mid to late June. The Project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. Completion is scheduled for June 2026. Developer is Triumph Development West, Coleman Wise, 970-401-5304. The site excavating contractor is Scofield Construction, Joe Haugen, 970-210-0020. Vail Village
The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (former Los Amigos)
The site construction fence is up. Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen. Contractor is R.A. Nelson, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258.
816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work for the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for use of the lower lot for staging of material and equipment. 304 Bridge Street
Trash and debris removal is underway during demo work. Work on the Red Lion elevator consists of adding a new two-story residential elevator for second level units and expanding existing stairs at the entry of the vestibule. Main Vail Roundabout Turf Replacement
Work has begun in the center of the roundabout to replace the bluegrass turf with native grasses with the intent of reducing water use and maintenance needs. The existing grass will be removed during the next several weeks, with an estimated completion date of May 23. Town of Vail contact is Gregg Barrie, 970-390-3286.
Bighorn Park Play Area Maintenance
Crews are working on repairs and maintenance, including the replacement of the structural logs and decking on the remaining two structures, welding work on the railings, replacing a broken slide and repainting the railings. The Town of Vail contact is Gregg Barrie, 970-390-3286.
Ford Park - South Bridge Entrance Landscape Improvements
Work north of the pedestrian bridge in Ford Park, adjacent to the Amp, will be ongoing from early May to late June, weather permitting. Work includes landscape, irrigation and stonework. Contractor, Fitz Landscaping, James Fitz, 970-904-5233. Town of Vail contact is Kim White, 970-343-9259.
Roundabout Lighting Improvements, I-70 Vail Town Center Interchange
Work continues on the rejuvenation of disturbed areas. The goal of this project is to upgrade the lighting in the Vail Town Center roundabouts to meet current safety standards for both vehicles and pedestrians. The project contractor is Morton Electric of Pueblo. Town of Vail contact is Senior Engineer Chad Salli, 970-376-2389.
Vail Art Studio, Ford Park
Construction continues on the new Vail Art Studio located on the lower bend of Ford Park, near the pedestrian bridge to Manor Vail. The Vail Art Studio is anticipated to be completed by spring 2025. Contractor is MW Golden Constructors, Site Supervisor Noah Green, 303-915-3393.
Sunbird Park Play Area Maintenance
Crews are working on repairs and maintenance, including the replacement of the tall next fabric panels and sanding of all structures. The playground will be open Memorial Day weekend. The Town of Vail contact is Gregg Barrie, 970-390-3286.
Vail Village Snowmelt Repairs
The majority of the work will occur along East Meadow Drive. Initial repairs, which will be completed by RH Mechanical, will not impact bus or pedestrian traffic. The Town of Vail contact is Chris Delles, 970-471-2749.
Lionshead
Vail Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements, 846 Forest Road
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is upgrading infrastructure and the wastewater treatment process at their wastewater treatment facility in Vail. This project includes stormwater improvements, paving and landscaping with expected completion in summer of 2025. ERWSD contact is Mank Mantua, 970-401-0822
Outlying
North Frontage Road Pedestrian Safety Improvements
Crews hired by the Town of Vail will install concrete bulb outs, upgrade curb ramps, improve lighting and push button activated crosswalk flashing lights at the North Frontage Road bus stop, in front of Safeway, to improve pedestrian visibility and shorten the crossing distance at the crosswalk. West Middle Creek Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
Crews begin readying for the start of construction on the West Middle Creek housing project. Through the week, crews will install perimeter construction fences, erosion control measures and complete the watermain layout along the Frontage Road. Traffic control measures, including control cones and concrete barricades, will be placed for a single-lane road closure. Flaggers will be onsite. The pedestrian/bike path will be closed from May 20 through July 1. Please follow traffic control signs and personnel. Shaw Construction contact is John Payne, 303-350-1373. North Frontage Road, East Vail Interchange
Crews will work into late June, weather permitting, on landscaping and completing irrigation work along all exit and entrance ramps of I-70 at the exit 180 interchange. GH Daniels III and Assoc., Alan Caraveo 970-471-5977. Town of Vail contact is Kim White, 970-343-9259.
Potato Patch Drive Water Tank Maintenance
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing maintenance activities on the below-grade water tank at 756 Potato Patch Drive until May 16. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road at this location and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. I-70 News
- Work on I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project has begun. Significant impacts are expected. Beginning in May, there will be daily single-lane closures along eastbound and westbound I-70 from MP 185 to 190. This season, CDOT has launched West Vail Pass text alerts. Text 'vailpass' (one word) to 21000. For more information, visit the project page.

Online Community Development Portal
Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online portal to submit applications for contractor registration and construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood.
