Featured Projects

Dobson Arena Remodel
Crews are ripping out old materials from the west side entrance of the arena. The remodel includes the addition of bathrooms and locker rooms. The upgrades will increase the maximum spectator capacity of the arena to 1,400 for hockey games and 3,500 for concerts and shows. Holy Cross Energy has activated temporary transformers to get power to the building. There will be full road closures and single-lane closures of West Meadow Drive throughout the project. Please avoid the area if possible and follow all instructions given by the traffic control personnel. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026. Contractor is Hyder Construction. Timber Ridge Village
With Building A in place after two weeks of modular unit installation, crews will begin constructing roof trusses. Platform and wall concrete pours, utility installation and groundwork continue elsewhere on site in preparation for setting the next buildings. In addition, a second round of rockfall mitigation will be completed this week on property upslope of the Timber Ridge Village project. There will be a single lane closure between Savoy Villas and Moraine Drive on Lionsridge Loop July 14-17 for installation of protective barriers on the south road shoulder. This section of Lionsridge Loop will be fully closed to pedestrians and through traffic July 18-21 during rock scaling and cleanup operations. Flaggers will be located on either end of the lane and road closures to assist with pedestrian and vehicle movement. During the public safety closure, the Lionsridge Loop bus route will operate as an out-and-back route from the Vail Transportation Center (VTC) to the Grand Traverse bus stop. The Simba Run and Sandstone bus stops on the east side will be served only by the Sandstone Route. Click on map to enlarge and to see road closure and bus route details. The Timber Ridge Village housing project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. Completion is scheduled for June 2026. West Middle Creek Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
Progress continues on installation of the water main along the North Frontage Road. Lane and path closures for public safety are ongoing along the North Frontage Road between Middle Creek and Solar Vail. The closures will shift this week as crews focus on completing the water main connection. Flaggers remain on site to assist with traffic movement during the day (6 a.m. -10 p.m.) and traffic signals will be in place overnight (10p.m. - 6 a.m.). Please follow traffic control signals, flagger instructions and utilize the pedestrian re-route. On site, crews begin construction of the first soil nail wall. Vail Village

816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work for the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for use of the lower lot for staging of material and equipment. Vail Village Snowmelt Repairs
The majority of the work will occur along East Meadow Drive. Initial repairs, which will be completed by RH Mechanical, will not impact bus or pedestrian traffic. Town of Vail contact is Chris Delles, 970-471-2749.

Vail Art Studio
Crews are putting the final touches on the studio, which is anticipated to open in August. The facility is located at the lower bench of Ford Park, near the Manor Vail bridge and includes a vaulted ceiling and 12-foot-high walls with strategically placed windows providing natural light and uninterrupted wall space. Within the 750 sq. ft. building, there is an open working studio of approximately 450 sq. ft., an entrance foyer, an ADA accessible bathroom and storage.

Lionshead

Vail Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements, 846 Forest Road
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is upgrading infrastructure and the wastewater treatment process at their wastewater treatment facility in Vail. The project includes stormwater improvements, paving and landscaping with expected completion this summer. ERWSD contact is Mark Mantua, 970-401-0822.

Outlying

Roadway Resurfacing – Asphalt Overlay 
GM Asphalt Repair, hired by the Town of Vail, will be milling and repaving neighborhood roads in East Vail starting Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Roads included in this first phase are Main Gore Drive, Ute Lane, Grouse Lane, Black Gore Drive, Black Bear Lane in East Vail and Meadow Ridge Road in West Vail. Paving crews will return in September following the completion of drainage improvement projects to resurface Meadow Drive, Meadow Lane and Juniper Lane. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.  Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers during work hours.  Town of Vail contact is Senior Engineer Chad Salli, 970-376-2389. 

East Vail Interchange
Crews will work into late June, weather permitting, on landscaping and completing irrigation work along all exit and entrance ramps of I-70 at the exit 180 interchange. Contractor is GH Daniels III and Assoc., Alan Caraveo, 970-471-5977. Town of Vail contact is Kim White, 970-343-9259.

• I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project traffic holds are in effect from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. This season, CDOT has launched West Vail Pass text alerts. Text 'vailpass' (one word) to 21000. For more information visit the project page.
