Featured Projects

Dobson Arena Remodel
Crews gutted the old locker room on the east side of the building (left photo) and new lockers will be installed. In addition, crews dug a 20-foot hole just outside of the arena northeast corner, where they continue to build an additional locker room (right photo).  Work continues on reinforcing the temporary roof and removing the last of the demolished debris. There will be full road closures and single-lane closures of West Meadow Drive throughout the project. Please avoid the area if possible and follow all instructions given by the traffic control personnel. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026. Contractor is Hyder Construction. Timber Ridge Village
Setting of modular units for Building B is underway. There may continue to be intermittent waits times on the North Frontage Road as trucks deliver units to the property. Lions Ridge Loop is closed to westbound traffic through November 15 for retaining wall and parking construction. A single lane will remain open as a one-way for eastbound traffic only. The Lions Ridge Loop bus will remain on a normal operating schedule. The Timber Ridge Village housing project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. Completion is scheduled for June 2026. West Middle Creek Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
Crews continue to focus on soil nail wall construction, site grading, and material export across the property. Be aware of trucks regularly entering and exiting the property in support of this work. Solar Vail residents continue to use alternative access through the Red Sandstone School loop. Flaggers are located at the Solar Vail/Red Sandstone School loop intersection in the morning and afternoon to assist with traffic flows during school pick up and drop off. Gore Creek Promenade Renewal
Work begins this week with crews setting up fencing, moving in materials, establishing staging areas and removing vegetation. The park will be closed through Nov. 13, weather permitting.  The sidewalk and all businesses will remain open. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The goal of the project is to address significant wear and tear in the popular park while improving park deficiencies such as lack of seating, improving access to Gore Creek, and ensuring the park is accessible for those with a disability or mobility impairment. Town of Vail contact is Gregg Barrie, 970-479-2337.

Vail Village

816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work for the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for use of the lower lot for staging of material and equipment. Vail Village Snowmelt Repairs
The majority of the work will occur along East Meadow Drive. Initial repairs, which will be completed by RH Mechanical, will not impact bus or pedestrian traffic. Town of Vail contact is Chris Delles, 970-471-2749.

420 S. Frontage Road, Xcel Energy
Phase 2 will start this week and expected to continue through November. Xcel Energy is doing fire valve work on Xcel property at the intersection of Vail Valley Drive and South Frontage Road. Expect shoulder and temporary sidewalk closure on South Frontage Road. Pedestrians, please follow re-routing signs. Completion date is scheduled for early November. Vail Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements, 846 Forest Road
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is upgrading infrastructure and the wastewater treatment process at their wastewater treatment facility in Vail. Outlying

West Vail Roundabout Bridge Scour Mitigation
Crews hired by the Town of Vail will begin bridge maintenance this week on the bridge connecting the West Vail south roundabout to Streamside Vail.  Work includes installation of boulders and rubble along the bridge abutments and wing walls.  The original rock protection installed in 1998 with the construction of the roundabout has been swept downstream over the years during spring runoffs exposing the bridge foundations.  Work will be completed by the end of September. The work will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday - Saturday. The contractor is Hallmark, Inc of Denver.  Town of Vail contact is Senior Engineer Chad Salli, 970-376-2389.   

Potato Patch Drive Water Tank Maintenance  
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing maintenance activities on the below-grade water tank at 756 Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road at this location, and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Work is expected to be complete in mid-November. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.

• I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project traffic holds are in effect from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. This season, CDOT has launched West Vail Pass text alerts. Text 'vailpass' (one word) to 21000. For more information visit the project page.

Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online portal to submit applications for contractor registration and construction-related permits. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood.
