Dobson Arena Remodel
After installing about 40 steel plates in the ceiling, crews continue to install tie rods in the ceiling, which help spread the load of the steel plates and pulls the ceiling together. Crews also are preparing for ice slab demo and masonry mobilization at the elevator shaft. There will be full road closures and single-lane closures of West Meadow Drive throughout the project. Please avoid the area if possible and follow all instructions given by the traffic control personnel. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026. Contractor is Hyder Construction. Timber Ridge Village
Interior and exterior building work continues on schedule. This includes the start of exterior painting and insulation for Building A, ongoing wood siding and roofing installation for Building F, and unit stitching for Building B. Work along the North Frontage Road will be wrapping up with final asphalt and striping. On Lionsridge Loop, there is an ongoing closure to westbound traffic with crews pouring footings for the north retaining wall. The Timber Ridge Village housing project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. Building A is still scheduled for completion in December 2025 with the entire project scheduled for completion in Fall 2026. Offsite stormwater drain upgrades progress on schedule near the Treetops Condos in Lionshead. Please pay attention to construction equipment, materials, and workers in the area. Over at the property, site work activities look similar with wall sculpting and staining, soil nail drilling, and material excavation and export. Be aware of trucks regularly entering and exiting the property in support of this work. Solar Vail residents continue to use alternative access through the Red Sandstone School loop. Flaggers are located at the Solar Vail/Red Sandstone School loop intersection in the morning and afternoon to assist with traffic flows during school pick up and drop off. Crews have completed new Gore Creek access areas and stream bank improvements.  Over the next two weeks, work will be focused on site grading, preparation for new walkways, and stone seating terraces. The overall project includes adding durable surfaces, improving natural turf areas and adding new landscaping. The park will be closed through Nov. 13, weather permitting.  The sidewalk and all businesses will remain open. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The goal of the project is to address significant wear and tear in the popular park while improving park deficiencies such as lack of seating, improving access to Gore Creek, and ensuring the park is accessible for those with a disability or mobility impairment. Vail Village

Vail Village Snowmelt Repairs
East Meadow Drive in Vail is expected to be closed at the intersection of Vail Road through Wednesday, Oct. 15 to facilitate a repair to the Town of Vail’s snowmelt system. The concrete pan that is adjacent to Vail Road will be removed, new snowmelt tubing will be installed, and new concrete will be placed. Town of Vail intown buses are detouring to Lionshead via the South Frontage Road. Vehicular and emergency access will be maintained through Village Center and Willow Bridge Road. 420 S. Frontage Road, Xcel Energy
Phase 2 work is currently on hold and will not be completed this fall. Completion of the project is now scheduled for the spring of 2026. Xcel Energy is doing fire valve work on Xcel property at the intersection of Vail Valley Drive and South Frontage Road. Expect shoulder and temporary sidewalk closure on South Frontage Road. Pedestrians, please follow re-routing signs. Completion date is scheduled for early November. Contractor is Blackeagle Energy Services, Xcel Energy contact is Marc Mayorga, 303-653-2346.

Outlying

Ford Park Bollard Installation Project
The Town of Vail has hired Hallmark Inc. to install two retractable bollards and two fixed bollards at the top of East Betty Ford Way to control vehicular access and protect the pedestrian area.  This project will also act as a pilot/test project for retractable bollards within Vail. The project is anticipated to start the week of Oct. 13 and be complete by Nov. 14. During construction access down East Betty Ford Way will be closed, and all vehicles and pedestrians will be directed towards West Betty Ford Way. The contractor is Hallmark, Inc of Denver. Town of Vail contact is Director of Public Works/Town Engineer Tom Kassmel, 970-479-2235.   

Potato Patch Drive Water Tank Maintenance  
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing maintenance activities on the below-grade water tank at 756 Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road at this location, and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Work is expected to be complete in mid-November. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.

I-70 News

I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project  
Traffic holds are taking place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. This season, CDOT has launched West Vail Pass text alerts. Text 'vailpass' (one word) to 21000. For more information visit the project page.

Lane Closure Report for the Week of Oct. 5 

Westbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between Vail Pass and East Vail, Mile Points 190 and 180, beginning Sunday, Oct. 5, and may remain in place throughout the week, ending at noon on Friday, Oct. 10. Single-lane closures are also possible the morning of Saturday, Oct. 11, until 10 a.m. There is also the possibility of night work throughout the week, which may require single-lane closures. 

Eastbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between East Vail and Vail Pass, Mile Points 180 and 190, beginning Sunday, Oct. 5, and may remain in place throughout the week, ending at noon on Friday, Oct. 10. Single-lane closures are also possible the morning of Saturday, Oct. 11, until 10 a.m. There is also the possibility of night work throughout the week, which may require single-lane closures. 

Recreation Path Trail Holds
Additional trail holds on the recreation path are scheduled for Oct. 7 to 10, while construction crews work on demolition and removal of the old eastbound Mile Point 185 bridge. The trail holds will occur at Mile Point 185, where the path crosses under I-70, and are estimated to last for a minimum of 20 minutes at a time throughout the day. Trail users will have the option to turn around at the temporary closure points or wait until the construction site is deemed safe and trail traffic is guided through the construction area. Additional bridge demolition work, which will require impacts to the recreation path, is anticipated for the week of Oct. 26.
