Featured Projects
Dobson Arena Remodel
Current efforts are focused on installing electrical mains beneath the ice, continuing north exterior utility work, backfill and waterproofing, and forming, reinforcing and pouring south footers. Crews also are working on the north restroom and installation of concession steel is underway, adding visible progress to the project’s exterior. There will be full road closures and single-lane closures of West Meadow Drive throughout the project. Please avoid the area if possible and follow all instructions given by the traffic control personnel. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026. Contractor is Hyder Construction. Timber Ridge Village
Building and site work continue on schedule. This includes roofing, siding, painting, insulation, garage door installation, curb and gutter work, and placement of road base on the eastern portion of the property. On Lions Ridge Loop, there is a continued closure to westbound traffic with crews pouring footings for the north retaining wall. The Timber Ridge Village housing project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. Building A is still scheduled for completion in December 2025 with the entire project scheduled for completion in Fall 2026. Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
Significant material excavation and export continue across the site with haul trucks regularly entering and exiting the property. Architectural shotcrete, sculpting and staining is complete on the top two tiers of soil nail walls. Crews have started placing blocks for the first MSE retaining wall. Offsite stormwater drain installation progresses on schedule north toward E. Lionshead Circle next to the Tree Top Condos in Lionshead. Gore Creek Promenade Renewal
Crews have completed new Gore Creek access areas and stream bank improvements. Over the next two weeks, work will be focused on site grading, preparation for new walkways, and stone seating terraces. The overall project includes adding durable surfaces, improving natural turf areas and adding new landscaping. The park will be closed through Nov. 13, weather permitting. The sidewalk and all businesses will remain open. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The goal of the project is to address significant wear and tear in the popular park while improving park deficiencies such as lack of seating, improving access to Gore Creek, and ensuring the park is accessible for those with a disability or mobility impairment. Vail Village
The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos)
Beginning today, Holy Cross Energy will work on an electrical transformer on the bike path near the Pirate Ship Park. The bike path will be closed to all path users. Please avoid area while work is being completed. Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Work will be ongoing through the fall and winter months. Current construction access is from the Vail Resorts property. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. The contractor is RA Nelson, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258.
816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work on the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers and building foundations, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for the use of the lower lot for staging materials and equipment. General Contractor is Mexamer Construction Group, Matt Anderson, 970-471-3459. Work on the Red Lion elevator consists of adding a new two-story residential elevator for second level units and expanding existing stairs at the entry of the vestibule. 420 S. Frontage Road, Xcel Energy
Phase 2 work is currently on hold and will not be completed this fall. Completion of the project is now scheduled for the spring of 2026. Xcel Energy is doing fire valve work on Xcel property at the intersection of Vail Valley Drive and South Frontage Road. Expect shoulder and temporary sidewalk closure on South Frontage Road. Pedestrians, please follow re-routing signs. Completion date is scheduled for early November. Contractor is Blackeagle Energy Services, Xcel Energy contact is Marc Mayorga, 303-653-2346.
Outlying
Ford Park Bollard Installation Project
The Town of Vail has hired Hallmark Inc. to install two retractable bollards and two fixed bollards at the top of East Betty Ford Way to control vehicular access and protect the pedestrian area. This project will also act as a pilot/test project for retractable bollards within Vail. The project is anticipated to be complete by Nov. 14. During construction access down East Betty Ford Way will be closed, and all vehicles and pedestrians will be directed towards West Betty Ford Way. The contractor is Hallmark, Inc of Denver. Ford Park Shouldering Work
Ceres Landcare continues performing shouldering work along West Betty Ford Way in Ford Park. West Betty Ford Way will remain open during the work, which should be completed by Oct. 22. Town of Vail contact in Kim White, 970-343-9259.
Potato Patch Drive Water Tank Maintenance
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing maintenance activities on the below-grade water tank at 756 Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road at this location, and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Work is expected to be complete in mid-November. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.
I-70 News
I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
Traffic holds are taking place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. This season, CDOT has launched West Vail Pass text alerts. Text 'vailpass' (one word) to 21000. For more information visit the project page.
Recreation Path Trail Holds
Trail holds on the recreation path are anticipated, while construction crews work on demolition and removal of the old eastbound Mile Point 185 bridge. The trail holds will occur at Mile Point 185, where the path crosses under I-70, and are estimated to last for a minimum of 20 minutes at a time throughout the day. Trail users will have the option to turn around at the temporary closure points or wait until the construction site is deemed safe and trail traffic is guided through the construction area. Additional bridge demolition work, which will require impacts to the recreation path, is anticipated for the week of Oct. 26.

Online Community Development Portal
Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online portal to submit applications for contractor registration and construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood.
