Road Closure on Lions Ridge Loop for Rockfall Mitigation

Post Date:10/24/2025 2:00 PM
The Town of Vail will close Lions Ridge Loop to through traffic and pedestrians between Savoy Villas and Moraine Drive starting Wednesday, Oct. 29 for rockfall mitigation work. The closure will remain in place through mid-December or until work is complete, weather pending. While work will only occur between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, the closure will remain in place 24 hours per day throughout the project. Access will be maintained for local traffic to all neighboring properties.

During the public safety closure, the Lions Ridge Loop bus route will operate as an out-and-back route from the Vail Transportation Center (VTC) to the Grand Traverse bus stop. The Simba Run and Sandstone bus stops on the east side will be served only by the Sandstone Route.

Fencing will be located on either side of the road closures for the duration of operations to restrict pedestrian and vehicle movement. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to observe all signs and closures for the safety of the public, workers and infrastructure.

Questions can be directed to Town Engineer Chad Salli at csalli@vail.gov or at 970-479-2169.
