Featured Projects

Dobson Arena Remodel
Crews continue to work on the west entrance of the arena as the steel framing takes shape. Inside, crews are laying in ice mains and continue building masonry walls for the additional seating, which will increase capacity for hockey games to 1,400. Crews also are finishing work on the new elevator. There will be full road closures and single-lane closures of West Meadow Drive throughout the project. Please avoid the area if possible and follow all instructions given by the traffic control personnel. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026. Contractor is Hyder Construction. Timber Ridge Village
A crane begins to install trusses on Building G at Timber Ridge.Roof trusses start going in on the new building (Building G). Other activities across the property include continued building siding and masonry work on Buildings A, F and B, interior building patching and stitching, sidewalk and dumpster pad work, excavation and concrete pouring for public stairs, and installation of Building A rooftop pavers. There is a full road closure on Lions Ridge Loop between Savoy Villas and Moraine Drive for the installation of permanent rockfall mitigation fence above the project site. During the public safety closure, the Lions Ridge Loop bus route will operate as an out-and-back route from the Vail Transportation Center (VTC) to the Grand Traverse bus stop. The Simba Run and Sandstone bus stops on the east side will be served only by the Sandstone Route. The Timber Ridge Village housing project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. Building A is planned for completion in December 2025 with the entire project planned for completion in Fall 2026. Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage RoadA crew member works on block MSE wall at Southface development.

The site continues to take shape as excavation, drilling and spray facing progress is on schedule for building soil nail wall levels three and four as well as bus soil nail wall levels one and two. All activities for the Southface project this fall are focused on site and utility work in preparation for next year’s construction season. Gore Creek Promenade Renewal

The flagstone walkway along the creek has been completed. Crews are finalizing electrical work, site grading and site cleanup to safely reopen the park to the public by end of the day on Thursday, Nov. 20. Landscape fabric will be placed over the dirt/mud areas to help keep the area clean until there is adequate snowpack to cover the site. The park will remain open through the winter months, and work will restart in mid-April. While there will be no fire pit on site this winter, Art in Public Places plans to install the Winterfest ice sculptures beginning in January. The goal of the project is to address significant wear and tear in the popular park while improving park deficiencies such as lack of seating, improving access to Gore Creek, and ensuring the park is accessible for those with a disability or mobility impairment. Vail Village

The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos) 
Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping.  Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Work will be ongoing through the fall and winter months. Current construction access is from the Vail Resorts property until the mountain opens for ski season. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street, morning hours only during the winter months as needed with Right of Way Permit approval only.  All work is currently contained within the construction fence. The contractor is RA Nelson, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258. 

816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work on the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers and building foundations, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for the use of the lower lot for staging materials and equipment. General Contractor is Mexamer Construction Group, Matt Anderson, 970-471-3459. 304 Bridge Street
Work on the Red Lion elevator consists of adding a new two-story residential elevator for second level units and expanding existing stairs at the entry of the vestibule. 420 S. Frontage Road, Xcel Energy
Phase 2 work is currently on hold and will not be completed this fall. Completion of the project is now scheduled for the spring of 2026. Xcel Energy is doing fire valve work on Xcel property at the intersection of Vail Valley Drive and South Frontage Road. Expect shoulder and temporary sidewalk closure on South Frontage Road. Pedestrians, please follow re-routing signs. Completion date is scheduled for early November. Contractor is Blackeagle Energy Services, Xcel Energy contact is Marc Mayorga, 303-653-2346.


Outlying

Ford Park Bollard Installation Project
The Town of Vail has hired Hallmark Inc. to install two retractable bollards and two fixed bollards at the top of East Betty Ford Way to control vehicular access and protect the pedestrian area.  This project will also act as a pilot/test project for retractable bollards within Vail. The project is anticipated to be complete by Nov. 21. During construction access down East Betty Ford Way will be closed, and all vehicles and pedestrians will be directed towards West Betty Ford Way. The contractor is Hallmark, Inc of Denver. Town of Vail contact is Director of Public Works/Town Engineer Tom Kassmel, 970-479-2235.   

Potato Patch Drive Water Tank Maintenance  
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing maintenance activities on the below-grade water tank at 756 Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road at this location, and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Work is expected to be complete in mid-November. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.


I-70 News

I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
The project is in winter hiatus and will resume for a final expected construction season in spring 2026. No lane closures are expected during the winter break, though minor work may take place away from the roadway. Note: the Vail Pass recreation path is not regularly maintained during the winter season. Regular maintenance will resume in the spring. 

Mountain Corridor: Golden to the Utah Border
New this winter season, CDOT has launched an online hub dedicated to the I-70 Mountain Corridor—a one-stop resource for winter driving information, road conditions, and tips for smooth, safe mountain travel. This resource brings together the best tools from COtrip.org and the COtrip Planner app in one centralized location: codot.gov/i70mountain.

Online Community Development Portal

Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online portal to submit applications for contractor registration and construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood.
