Crews working on the remodel of Dobson Arena will close a portion of W. Meadow Drive to all traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8. The closure will include the area in front of Vail Public Library to E. Lionshead Circle. Pedestrians will detour via the Gore Valley Trail south of the library.
The in-town bus will be rerouted west of the Covered Bridge along the Frontage Road to Lionshead Village. There will be no in-town bus service at the Dobson Arena/Library, Vail Health, Vail Road and Solaris stops. Vail Health may be accessed via the Frontage Road bus stop.
Construction on the arena began in the spring of this year and is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete, with the anticipated reopening at the end of September 2026. The remodel includes new entryways to the south and west, additional bathrooms and locker rooms, and concert rigging infrastructure. The upgrades will increase the maximum spectator capacity of the arena to 1,400 for hockey games and 3,500 for concerts and shows.
Project progress will be included in the Town of Vail's Weekly Construction Update newsletter. Subscribe at www.vail.gov/vailmail. For more information on the In-Town bus reroute, contact Town of Vail Transit Operations Manager Jordan Winters at jwinters@vail.gov.
