Sole Power is Now Sole Power Plus

Post Date:12/31/2025 2:02 PM

Commit to greener commuting in 2026 with the newly improved and expanded Sole Power Plus - a year-around version of the long running, countywide Sole Power Green Commuting Challenge. The program builds on more than 15 years of success promoting sustainable, green commuting throughout the Eagle Valley.

Sole Power Plus introduces an update to the recently launched, user friendly mobile app which now includes bus rides and carpooling to make all green commuting trips easier to track and eligible for the challenge. The free app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, features an updated look as well as separate leaderboards and metrics for “Plus powered” use of transit and carpooling.

The rules remain the same: any trip that replaces what would have been a single occupancy motorized trip counts, whether you walk, bike, run, skate, e-bike, and now, carpool or bus. Recreational or training outings do not count. By choosing “Sole Power” instead of fuel power, participants support active green transportation, personal wellness and community climate action.

Since its inception, Sole Power, and now Sole Power Plus, has become a cornerstone of Eagle County’s sustainability and emissions-reduction efforts. Over the past 15 years, nearly 3,000 participants have logged more than 596,000 miles across 108,000 trips, collectively reducing more than 556,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions - the equivalent of taking 59 cars off the road each year. With Sole Power Plus, the program now expands to include carpooling and bus riding, further incentivizing residents to make greener choices and addressing transportation, the county’s second leading source of emissions.

Just like in the previous summer Sole Power Challenges, participants who log trips in Sole Power Plus will be eligible for weekly prizes from community sponsors, including local gift cards, outdoor gear, and more. The fun continues year-round with monthly happy hours beginning in January, offering another way for participants to connect and celebrate their progress. Long-time sponsor Kind Design is providing a new line of Sole Power Plus gear, including hats, t-shirts, socks, tote bags, and stickers to commemorate the release.
