Featured Projects

Dobson Arena Remodel
Ongoing work continues with event level masonry walls progressing. Event level mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) underground work continues to advance, as well as MEP in-wall work at the event level. Exterior cold-formed metal framing (CFMF) has begun encasing the main concessions area in the south side of the area. Teams are preparing for NW concrete masonry unit footers, the ice skid pad, pilasters, and slab-on-grade, along with the south exterior structure, fireproofing, and NW concrete demo. Crews have tightened up construction barriers and expect there will be no full-road closures through the ski season. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2026.  Crew member works on pipes at the west entrance of Dobson Arena.  The south barrier at Dobson is pushed back during ski season for more room for visitors to pass.


Timber Ridge Village
Scaffolding has been removed from Building A and exterior site cleanup is underway while final interior walk-throughs, punch lists and inspections occur. Elsewhere on-site construction of site stairs continues, mechanical, electrical and plumbing service work is happening inside Building F, siding progresses for Buildings F and B, and unit stitching will be ongoing for Buildings G and D through January. The next round of modular unit delivery and installation is anticipated for the end of the month. The Timber Ridge Village housing project consists of a 302-unit multifamily complex. The site excavating contractor is Schofield Construction, Joe Haugen, 970-210-0020. The site construction contractor is Jack Hughes, Shaw Construction, 970-471-0448. Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road

Excavation, soil nail wall drilling, and material export continue in full force as crews begin groundwork on level six of the building soil nail wall and prepare for mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) and cast-in-place (CIP) wall construction. Gore Creek Promenade Renewal

Construction work is completed for the fall 2025 season. A sign says Gore Creek Promenade closed until more snow. The park areas remain closed pending adequate snowpack on the uneven surfaces. Ice sculptures will return in January. Construction on this project is expected to resume in mid-April with a goal of completing the project in late June. The goal of the project is to address significant wear and tear in the popular park while improving park deficiencies such as lack of seating, improving access to Gore Creek, and ensuring the park is accessible for those with a disability or mobility impairment. The final completion date for the project will be June 26, 2026. Town of Vail contact is Gregg Barrie, 970-479-2337.

Vail Village

Vail Athletic Field
Excavation of the site is nearing completion.  It will be followed by water, sewer and electric utility installation.  Once utilities are installed the contractor will assemble the concrete forms in preparation for concrete pours.  Weather has been favorable for construction activity, and the project remains on schedule for a fall 2026 completion date. The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos) 
With scaffolding set up next to the building, work continues on north side to install windows. Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Work will be ongoing through the winter months. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street, morning hours only during the winter months as needed with Right-of-Way Permit approval only. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. The contractor is RA Nelson, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258.

816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work on the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers and building foundations, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for the use of the lower lot for staging materials and equipment. General Contractor is Mexamer Construction Group, Matt Anderson, 970-471-3459. Outlying

Lions Ridge Loop Rockfall Mitigation Project 
Crews will return today, Jan. 5, to complete the final section of fencing above Tiber Ridge. Work will require a closure of westbound traffic on Lions Ridge Loop between 1240 and 1400 Lions Ridge Loop; eastbound traffic will remain open. Work is anticipated to last two weeks, weather dependent. For more information, contact Town of Vail Town Engineer Chad Salli at 970-376-2389.


I-70 News

I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
The project is in winter hiatus and will resume for a final expected construction season in spring 2026. No lane closures are expected during the winter break, though minor work may take place away from the roadway. Note: the Vail Pass recreation path is not regularly maintained during the winter season. Regular maintenance will resume in the spring. 

Mountain Corridor: Golden to the Utah Border
New this winter season, CDOT has launched an online hub dedicated to the I-70 Mountain Corridor—a one-stop resource for winter driving information, road conditions, and tips for smooth, safe mountain travel. This resource brings together the best tools from COtrip.org and the COtrip Planner app in one centralized location: codot.gov/i70mountain.

Online Community Development Portal

Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online portal to submit applications for contractor registration and construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood.
