The Town of Vail is seeking community members to fill upcoming vacancies on its Planning and Environmental Commission (PEC) and Building and Fire Code Appeals Board (BFCAB). Applications are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. The Vail Town Council is scheduled to conduct interviews during its afternoon session on April 7, with appointments to follow at its evening meeting.
Planning and Environmental Commission
Four openings exist on the PEC, with the two year-terms extending from April 1 to March 31, 2028. Applications are available at www.vail.gov/government/boards-commissions-authority-district/planning-and-environmental-commission-pec.
The PEC meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month beginning at 1 p.m. in the Vail Municipal Building. Duties of the seven-member commission include review and determination of requests for variances and conditional use permits, as well as recommendations to the Vail Town Council on special development districts, subdivisions, rezonings, various Town of Vail proposed plans and other community matters.

Building and Fire Code Appeals Board
Four vacancies exist on the BFCAB, with the four-year terms beginning on April 7 and running through March 31, 2030. Applications are available at https://www.vail.gov/government/boards-commissions-authority-district/building-and-fire-codes-appeals-board-b-fca.
The board operates with seven members and meets monthly as needed. Applicants must be licensed architects; registered engineers with structural, mechanical, electrical or fire protection engineering experience; construction company executives or superintendents with at least 10 years of construction experience; or an individual with similar building design and construction knowledge and experience. 
Duties of the BFCAB include hearing appeals of aggrieved parties, reviewing equivalency of alternative building materials and methods of construction, and providing interpretations of the town building and fire codes. The board also serves as technical advisers to the town council regarding the adoption of proposed code updates and amendments.
