Post Date:03/31/2026 8:00 AMFollowing a winter hiatus, work will begin on phase 2 of the Gore Creek Promenade Renewal this week. The promenade is a popular park in the heart of Vail Village, and the town is targeting a reopening by the end of June.
In preparation for the upcoming construction, crews have closed the park to let it dry out. A fence around the project will be installed the week of April 6; however, the walkway will be open providing full access to all neighboring businesses.
This spring’s work includes removing existing soil, building boulder walls, installing paver walkways and flagstone paving, placing sod, irrigation, landscaping, and drainage improvements. Working hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The first phase of the $2.1 million renewal project began last fall and aims to preserve the character of the park while addressing design and maintenance needs. Highlights of the project include new seating options throughout the park; improved access to Gore Creek; reconstructed lawn areas; durable surfaces such as paver and flagstone walkways; art installations including a new granite fire feature; and accessibility for those with impaired mobility.
All work is weather-dependent, and the schedule can change according to contractor progress. Project information will be included in the Town of Vail's Weekly Construction Update newsletter.
