Featured Projects
Dobson Arena Remodel
Crews and inspectors are working to ensure the grading of the rink subgrade is holding and ready for sand, foam, concrete and ice. Crews have closed a small section of the Vail Recreation Trail on the east side of Dobson while they complete storm work. The section of trail will be closed until Memorial Day weekend. Work also will continue with northeast and northwest utilities including drywell and storm. Contractor is Hyder McHugh Construction. Town of Vail contact is John King, 970-376-0949.

Timber Ridge Village
Fresh asphalt starts going down on Lionsridge Loop this week. The parking area is taking shape to support future Timber Ridge Village residents. Xcel Energy will perform gas service connections, starting with Building G. At Building G, exterior siding and stucco continue across multiple elevations and the solar panel system is getting underway. Building B is making strong progress on exterior paint and metal siding, with elevator installation ramping up mid-month. Building E is wrapping up exterior patch and stitch work, with stone veneer continuing and front entry roof framing beginning. Buildings C and D advance on stone veneer, interior finishes, and mechanical rough-in. Site work continues with removal of the temporary access road and installation of retaining walls behind Building E. The full development remains on track for final delivery in Fall 2026. Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
Two tower cranes go up this week. Crane A is being erected Monday and Crane B follows mid-week. Soil nail wall work steps up to the third tier, with excavation and drilling getting underway while the second-tier perimeter drain wraps up. Foundation concrete work pushes forward across the full building footprint, with shotcrete, continuous footers, and spread footings rolling through the central and eastern portions of the building in sequence. The joint utility trench is moving along, with gas, electrical, and telecom all going into the ground this week. MEP underground rough-in for the first slab-on-grade pour is also beginning, keeping the building’s first concrete floor pour on track for later this month. Gore Creek Promenade
Crews continue to haul out excess soil, install drainage systems, and build boulder walls. Crews are excavating and installing paver walkways and flagstone paving. The team is preparing for sod beginning next week. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The park is closed for the work and is expected to reopen June 26. Vail Village
10th Mountain Division Memorial Landscape Renewal
Work includes the installation of a 750-square-foot stone patio and associated site work around the 10th Mountain Division Statue located near the Vail Covered Bridge. The project includes removal of existing flagstone, installation of natural stone paving, boulders, minor electrical work, and landscape improvements including planting and irrigation. The area will be fenced. The estimated completion date is June 1. Contractor is Rocky Mountain Custom Landscapes, Matt Krigman, 970-904-9906. Town of Vail Contact is Kim White, 970-343-9259.
298 Hanson Ranch Road, New Deck Improvements
Work includes new deck and exterior improvements. Construction staging and fencing will be within the Town of Vail right-of-way but not on the street. Expect single-lane closure as needed for material delivery on Hanson Ranch Road with permit approval between 7 and 8:30 a.m. only. Completion date is scheduled for July 29. The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos)
Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. A crane will be visible Wednesday, May 13, but it will not affect access. The contractor is RA Nelson, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258.
816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work on the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers and building foundations, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for the use of the lower lot for staging materials and equipment. General Contractor is Mexamer Construction Group, Matt Anderson, 970-471-3459. 420 S. Frontage Road, Xcel Energy
Completion of Phase 2 has begun. Traffic lanes and sidewalk on the S. Frontage Road will be narrowed during daylight working hours. Completion of work is scheduled for June 19. Xcel Energy contact is Marc Mayorga, 303-653-2346.
Outlying
Vail Athletic Field
Work is on schedule with both interior and exterior framing. Roof has been dried in, and the rooms are starting to take shape. Crews are preparing to install a new fire hydrant to protect the new structure and will cap a 30-year-old abandoned irrigation line that once helped establish trees planted on the east side of the sand volleyball courts. Safety fence is also being reinstalled to protect the structure and the Athletic field from tee shots on hole 6. Vail Recreation District contact is Scott O’Connell, 970-477-5264.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is completing a multi-year rehabilitation project on the below-grade water tank on Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Main Gore Place Watermain Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District will perform waterline replacements in the Gore Creek Meadows community located at 5020 Main Gore PL., in East Vail. The Racquet Club Townhomes, Gore Creek Meadows and Sundial Communities will experience truck and heavy equipment traffic, as well as infrequent water shutdowns which will be communicated prior to taking place. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Impacts to public roadways is expected to be minimal. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.
Booth Falls, 3035 Booth Falls Rd.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District will perform emergency power upgrades to the facility located above the Booth Falls Trailhead. Pedestrian access will be maintained from the service gate to the trailhead. Improvements involve grading and clearing for a generator pad and electrical trenching on the service road up to the upper water treatment facility. Following that work, a standby generator and rock fall fence will be installed to provide power to critical pumping and treatment facilities during an extended power outage. I-70 News
Gypsum to Eagle resurfacing
CDOT starts a resurfacing project today from Gypsum to Eagle. Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday. Nighttime work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday. Minimal delays are expected. Traffic impacts include single-lane closures, 11-foot width restriction and a speed reduction to 55 mph. I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
This is the last phase of this project. Minor holds are expected in small windows. Motorists should anticipate, this month, traffic will be shifted to the south into a head-to-head, barrier separated alignment in the new eastbound lanes to allow for roadway and wildlife underpass construction.
