Featured Projects

Dobson Arena Remodel
Crews will dig a trench and lay fiber Monday – Wednesday west of the area, through the traffic circle to the Lionshead Parking Structure. Buses will continue to run. Exterior framing and sheathing continue where needed, while interior drywall is progressing steadily throughout the building. Arena bowl duct installation is advancing, along with south event and concourse overhead work. The team is preparing for northwest hot-applied roofing and staging the standing seam roofing material. Clearing the ice slab by the end of the month remains in focus. Contractor is Hyder McHugh Construction. Town of Vail contact is John King, 970-376-0949.

Timber Ridge Village
At Building B, exterior paint, caulking, and gutter and downspout installation are all progressing, with the elevator installation on track to begin the second week of June. Building G advances on multiple fronts, with stucco work active on the south, west, and north elevations alongside wood siding and exterior paint and caulking. Building E is working through exterior substrate sign-off, with the team focused on achieving building readiness for elevator inspection early in the month for a July installation. Xcel Energy is on site this week beginning gas service connections at Building D. Buildings C and D continue advancing on stone veneer, interior finishes, and mechanical garage rough-in. On the site work front, lighting conduit rough-in and backfill are progressing in front of Building D and light bollard foundations are getting underway. Paving for the east half of the Lions Ridge Loop parking is anticipated to start soon, with striping and signage to follow. The full development remains on track for final delivery in Fall 2026.  For more information on the development and housing units, visit Timber Ridge Village. Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
Two more tower cranes arrive on site this week at Southface Vail, completing the equipment lineup for vertical construction across the full building length. On the ground, foundation and utility work continues on schedule. Soil Nail Wall 3 third-tier drilling and grouting are working through the final tier, and MSE west wall construction and backfill remain active with offsite stone mixing keeping material supply consistent. Concrete work is progressing across the building pad, with continuous footers, columns, walls, and spread footings moving through the west, central, and east portions of the building. Foam insulation and waterproofing continue to follow the concrete sequence below grade. Underground MEP rough-in is underway in the first slab-on-grade zone, with inspections and backfill queued up behind. Shaw Construction contact is John Payne, 303-350-1373. Gore Creek Promenade
The project is progressing with the continued installation of stone pavers and boulders. Crews are working to pour concrete and construct the turf areas, which will be covered, but accessible, this summer to preserve the sod root crown. Crews built a drainage system under the pea gravel, similar to a sports field or golf course, to keep the ground from becoming soggy. Over the next two weeks, they will install parts of the irrigation system and install soil. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Vail Village

10th Mountain Division Memorial Landscape Renewal
Work comes to an end this week with the installation of a 750-square-foot stone patio and associated site work around the 10th Mountain Division Statue located near the Vail Covered Bridge. The project included
removal of existing flagstone, installation of natural stone paving, boulders, minor electrical work, and landscape improvements including planting and irrigation. Contractor is Rocky Mountain Custom Landscapes, Cody Ferguson 970-456-3922. Town of Vail Contact is Kim White 970-343-9259.

298 Hanson Ranch Road - Base Camp  
Work includes new deck and exterior improvements. Construction staging and fencing will be within the Town of Vail right-of-way but not on the street. Expect single-lane closure as needed for material delivery on Hanson Ranch Road with permit approval between 7 and 8:30 a.m. only. Completion date is scheduled for July 4.  Contractor is McAuther Enterprises, 970-977-0113. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677. 

The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos) 
Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. A crane is on site but will not affect access. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. The contractor is RA Nelson, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258.

816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Work on the Forest Road duplexes continues, including the footers and building foundations, new access road and retaining walls. Approval has been granted for the use of the lower lot for staging materials and equipment. General Contractor is Mexamer Construction Group, Matt Anderson, 970-471-3459. 720 S. Frontage Road E
Town of Vail utility work includes burying above ground power lines. Initial work will begin on Spraddle Creek Rd, will continue to S. Frontage Road at Ford Park Parking Lot, then through TOV Shops to Bald Mountain Road.  Expect land closure in July. Traffic control will be provided. Completion of project is estimated in August. Outlying

Dowd Junction - Gore Valley Trail
Use caution on the trail just east of the deer crossing fence. Town of Vail crews have cordoned off a small section in one lane of the path to work on severe cracks and hole in the pavement. Pedestrians and bikes can get by. Town of Vail Contact is Chad Salli, 970-376-2389.
 
Holy Cross Energy Spraddle Creek Underground  
Construction crews begin installing infrastructure to relocate the existing overhead electrical lines north of I-70 from Spraddle Creek to Bald Mountain Road underground.  Work will begin on the S. Frontage Rd. from Elkhorn Dr. to Aspen Ln.  Expect single lane closures with flaggers during working hours. Work hours are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.  Contractor is Advanced Electrical Contracting from Sheridan, Wyoming. Lions Ridge Loop Rockfall Fencing
Crews continue the rockfall fencing above Lions Ridge Loop. Lions Ridge Loop will be closed from behind Timber Ridge Village to Savoy Villas to all traffic (vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle) to facilitate the installation of the fencing foundations and netting.  Project is estimated to be complete by June 6 with buses resuming on June 8. Vail Athletic Field 

Interior framing is progressing, and mechanical, plumbing and electrical work is underway. The job site has been prepped for the arrival of the GoPro Mountain Games. An important milestone was achieved when crews completed the splice of Holy Cross main electric and installed the new transformer that will serve the building. Vail Tank 4 Project
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is completing a multi-year rehabilitation project on the below-grade water tank on Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.


Main Gore Place Watermain Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District will perform waterline replacements in the Gore Creek Meadows community located at 5020 Main Gore PL., in East Vail. The Racquet Club Townhomes, Gore Creek Meadows and Sundial Communities will experience truck and heavy equipment traffic, as well as infrequent water shutdowns which will be communicated prior to taking place. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Impacts to public roadways is expected to be minimal. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.

Booth Falls, 3035 Booth Falls Rd.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District will perform emergency power upgrades to the facility located above the Booth Falls Trailhead. Pedestrian access will be maintained from the service gate to the trailhead. Improvements involve grading and clearing for a generator pad and electrical trenching on the service road up to the upper water treatment facility. Following that work, a standby generator and rock fall fence will be installed to provide power to critical pumping and treatment facilities during an extended power outage. West Vail Slurry Seal 
Vail Slurry Seal project begins this week in the West Vail north neighborhood. The yearly maintenance plan aims to prolong the life of the asphalt roadways. The streets to be resurfaced are Circle Drive, St. Moritz Way, Chamonix Lane, Chamonix Road, Arosa Drive, Garmisch Drive, Cortina Lane, and Davos Trail. Single lane closures will be in place to allow the work to take place, and traffic control will be on site to facilitate access. The work is scheduled to be completed by June 4, pending weather. I-70 News

Gypsum to Eagle resurfacing 
CDOT is resurfacing from Gypsum to Eagle now through November. Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday. Nighttime work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday. Daily lane closures between Gypsum to Eagle. Nightly bridge work east of Eagle, near Wolcott. Minimal delays are expected. Traffic impacts include single-lane closures, 11-foot width restriction and a speed reduction to 55 mph. For details and updates, visit CDOT’s dedicated I-70 Mountain Corridor page, a one-stop resource for construction information, road conditions, and tips for smooth, safe mountain travel.  

I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
Expect single lane closures during both day and night. Intermittent weekday 20-minute traffic and recreation path holds possible starting this month. Motorists should anticipate traffic will be shifted to the south into a head-to-head, barrier separated alignment in the new eastbound lanes to allow for roadway and wildlife underpass construction. Sign up for Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes project updates, emails and webcams. For text alerts about the project, text 'vailpass' (one word, lowercase) to 21000.
