Vail Rolls Out 30% Increase in Summer Bus Service June 8

Post Date:06/04/2026 11:54 AM

The free Town of Vail bus system is rolling out a 30% increase in its summer bus service beginning Monday, June 8, representing the largest change in transit routes and frequency in over 30 years. Changes include route adjustments to Lions Ridge Loop, West Vail Red, and West Vail Green as well as increases in frequencies to all outlying routes between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. The enhanced bus schedule makes taking the bus easier than ever with regular service throughout the Town of Vail from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The full summer schedule is available for review at www.vail.gov/bus. For real time bus information, such as bus locations and percent full, visit ride.vail.gov. Hard copies of the bus schedule, including grid schedules, are posted in the bus shelters and are available at the Vail Transportation Center.

The enhanced schedule is funded in part by a Colorado Clean Transit Enterprise grant and is a part of a wider effort to encourage multi-modal transit alternatives to single occupancy vehicles in the Town of Vail. “Choosing greener alternatives is certainly timely given the increasing costs of using and maintaining personal vehicles,” said Jordan Winters, Transit Operations Manager for the Town of Vail.

In addition to the free Town of Vail and Core Transit bus systems in Eagle County, Vail residents and visitors can make further connections via the Shift Bike e-bike share system with stations from Vail to Edwards and the Zipcar car share program with hybrid vehicles located at the Vail Village parking structure and at Middle Creek Village. Sign up for a membership at www.zipcar.com/vail to get special Vail rates for resident, employees and guests.  Residents can get rewarded for commuting by foot, bike, bus or carpool by logging miles on the Sole Power Plus app, more information available at https://solepower.org/.
