Dobson Arena Remodel
The relocated main entry on the west side of the building is queued up for metal paneling and is getting stone veneer this week. The outdoor entry rat slab was poured last week and is being topped with pavers. Cloud ceiling is being installed in the interior of the west entrance. Roofing is nearing completion. Final interior painting and installation of fixtures continues and food service equipment is onsite. Installation of glass doors and metal panels on the exterior are in progress with wood panels being added to portions of the interior ceilings. Final drywall work is being done. Dobson Arena is on track to begin programming and host a grand opening celebration in November. Contractor is Hyder McHugh Construction. Town of Vail contact is John King, 970-376-0949.

Timber Ridge Village
Timber Ridge Village construction continues this week, with several buildings reaching key milestones. On site, sidewalk work continues on the west half of the property, and Building A's south entry stair railings get installed and painted. Along the Lionsridge Loop retaining wall, finish work continues, and the west site stairs remain in fabrication ahead of installation later this month. A crane will be on site for one day between Buildings D and E to install solar panels. Building B's elevator is installed, and crews continue exterior punch list work and interior painting. Building C continues exterior finish work. Building D crews begin setting up scaffolding for upcoming exterior work. Building E continues exterior work with metal siding going up, along with painting and caulking, and the building's elevator is expected to arrive later this month. Building G continues working through its punch list.

Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
This week at Southface Vail, work climbs to the building's third floor. Crews wrap up shoring for the first pour on this new level and begin laying out utility openings, with rebar placement following late this week and continuing into the week of August 17. On the second floor, the next deck section is set to be poured later this week, continuing the shift toward the west end of the building. At the west end, column and wall construction now gets underway on the last footing section, following last week's footing work. Permanent power is also being connected to the site's tower cranes this week — a step that supports the work ahead. On the hillside to the north, reinforcing work continues on the retaining wall following last week's grouting. Elsewhere on site, crews are shifting back to stormwater work on the east side of the site and the building's generator is being set into place. Shaw Construction contact is John Payne, 303-350-1373. Vail Nature Center In-Stream Restoration
In-stream excavation for the partnership project between Town of Vail, Trout Unlimited and Colorado Parks and Wildlife will begin on Monday, August 10 and continue through September 30. Work will begin at the upstream end of the project reach closest to the property boundary with the Golf Course. Construction access will be from Vail Valley Drive down the access road to the Nature Center. Town of Vail Contact is Pete Wadden, 970-568-6753. Vail Village
298 Hanson Ranch Road - Base Camp
Work includes new deck and exterior improvements. Construction staging is contained within fencing and screen. Expect single-lane closure as needed for material delivery on Hanson Ranch Road with permit approval between 7 and 8:30 a.m. only. Completion date is scheduled for mid-August 2026. The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos)
Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street, morning hours only during the summer months as needed with Right-of-Way Permit approval only. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. The contractor is RA Nelson, Matt Johanningmeier, 970-401-0430.
Work includes resurfacing, roof replacement and internal remodel. Use of Gore Creek Drive for trash removal and material delivery to occur, Monday – Thursday, 7 to 8:30 a.m. as needed during the summer months. 816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Town of Vail utility work includes burying above ground power lines. Asphalt restoration of the Frontage Road is complete, crews will begin shouldering and striping the week of 8/10. Installation of electrical conduit and vaults continues north of I-70 from Spraddle Creek Road to the Public Works complex. Completion of project is estimated in September. Outlying
The stucco work was recently completed and exterior painting should start this week. Electrical and Mechanical “trim out” are both underway inside the building. Once those 2 trades are done our plumbers will be back to install fixtures. Holy Cross is scheduled later this month to punch holes in new vault and we will pull new feeder cables to the new building. Subgrade work is underway under the canopy in preparation of our final concrete pours. The floor to the trash and recycle enclosure will be poured this week. The Town and VRD will collaborate on the asphalt parking lot in September to minimize impact to the field users. Vail Recreation District contact is Scott O’Connell, 970-477-5264.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is completing a multi-year rehabilitation project on the below-grade water tank on Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Work could go through October. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.
Main Gore Place Watermain Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing waterline replacements in the Gore Creek Meadows community located at 5020 Main Gore PL, in East Vail. The Racquet Club Townhomes, Gore Creek Meadows, and Sundial Communities will be experiencing truck and heavy equipment traffic, as well as infrequent water shutdowns which will be communicated prior to taking place. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Impacts to public roadways is expected to be minimal. The project is on track to be completed at the end of August. Booth Falls, 3035 Booth Falls Rd.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing emergency power upgrades to the facility located above the Booth Falls Trailhead (3035 Booth Falls Rd.) Pedestrian access will be maintained from the service gate to the trailhead. Ongoing activities include excavation and concrete work for a generator pad and electrical trenching across the service road to the transformer West of the parking area. Following that work, a standby generator will be installed to provide power to critical pumping and treatment facilities during extended power outages. West Vail Water Main Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District (ERWSD) is beginning an infrastructure improvement project in the West Vail Matterhorn neighborhood. This work will replace aging water and sanitary sewer mains along Geneva Drive, along with new water and sewer service lines connecting to the upgraded main.
This investment will ensure reliable water and sewer service for the community for decades to come. Construction will begin in August 2026 and will pause for the winter season, resuming in spring 2027. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Residents should expect temporary water outages and traffic impacts along Geneva Drive, Matterhorn Circle, and Upper Matterhorn Circle during construction. ERWSD will provide advanced notice to residents before any scheduled outage. We appreciate the community's patience as we work to minimize disruption while completing this essential upgrade. I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
Westbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between Vail Pass and East Vail, Mile Points 190 and 180, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day starting Monday, Aug. 10, and ending at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14. Single-lane closures are also possible the morning of Saturday, Aug. 15, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. No night work is scheduled this week.
Eastbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between East Vail and Vail Pass, Mile Points 180 and 190, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day starting Monday, Aug. 10, through Friday, Aug. 14. Single-lane closures are also possible the morning of Saturday, Aug. 15, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. No night work is scheduled this week.
CDOT Maintenance Bridge Inspections
CDOT's Division of Maintenance & Operations will conduct routine bridge inspections along West Vail Pass over the next two weeks, which may require additional single-lane closures. Next week’s bridge inspections and lane closures are scheduled on westbound I-70 from Monday, Aug. 10, through Thursday, Aug. 13.
