Dobson Arena Remodel
The relocated main entry on the west side of the building is in the process of receiving metal paneling and stone veneer. The outdoor entry rat slab has been topped with pavers and the cloud ceiling installation on the interior of the west entrance is wrapping up this week. Roofing is complete. Final interior painting and installation of fixtures and kitchen equipment is underway. Installation of glass doors and metal panels on the exterior of the south entrance wraps up this week. Dobson Arena is on track to begin programming and host a grand opening celebration in November. Contractor is Hyder McHugh Construction. Town of Vail contact is John King, 970-376-0949.

Timber Ridge Village
Several buildings reach new stages of exterior and interior work this week as Timber Ridge Village construction moves forward. On site, sidewalk work continues on the west half of the property, and crews begin shotcrete work on the exposed soil nail walls along the north retaining wall. Building signage for Buildings B and G is scheduled to arrive Monday, a visible sign of how close these buildings are getting to completion. Building B reaches an important milestone this week with its exterior punch walk, where the team will review any remaining exterior details to finalize. Building C continues wood siding on the north elevation, wraps up stucco on the east elevation, and begins exterior paint and caulking. Building D continues stucco work on the south elevation, with work shifting toward the east elevation and wood siding on the south face by the end of the week. Building E continues metal siding installation, and interior work on the garage level wraps up this week. Building G shifts into garage-level trim work on the interior as exterior work nears completion. Look for continued sidewalk and site work, along with steady exterior and interior progress across the buildings, as the project heads toward the end of August.

Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
This week at Southface Vail, crews keep pushing the building upward and outward. On the east side of the building's third floor, rebar and cable-tensioning work wraps up, setting the stage for the first pour on that level next week. On the second floor, shoring for the next deck section finishes early in the week. That section continues the shift toward the west end of the building. Survey work and utility layout follow, with rebar starting next week. At the west end, column and wall construction continues on the final footing section. On the hillside retaining wall to the north, reinforcing work wraps up this week. Crews will then begin applying the wall's protective spray coating midweek. Vail Nature Center In-Stream Restoration
In-stream excavation for the partnership project between Town of Vail, Trout Unlimited and Colorado Parks and Wildlife began on Monday, August 10 and will continue through September 30. Work will continue this week at the upstream end of the project reach closest to the property boundary with the Golf Course. Trails on the eastern half of the Vail Nature Center parcel are closed during construction. Construction access is from Vail Valley Drive down the access road to the Nature Center. Vail Village
298 Hanson Ranch Road - Base Camp
Work includes new deck and exterior improvements. Construction staging is contained within fencing and screen. Expect single-lane closure as needed for material delivery on Hanson Ranch Road with permit approval between 7 and 8:30 a.m. only. Completion date is scheduled for late-August/early September 2026. The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos)
Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street, morning hours only during the summer months as needed with Right-of-Way Permit approval only. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. Projected completion in November. The contractor is RA Nelson, Matt Johanningmeier, 970-401-0430.
17 Vail Road, PNC Bank/Prima Residences Project.
Complete demo and new construction of commercial and residential units. Interior of building is currently being vacated. Construction start date is yet TBD, pending Building Permit approval. Work includes resurfacing, roof replacement and internal remodel. Use of Gore Creek Drive for trash removal and material delivery to occur, Monday – Thursday, 7 to 8:30 a.m. as needed during the summer months. Projected completion is late December. 816 Forest Road Entry Bridge
Town of Vail utility work includes burying above ground power lines. Asphalt restoration of the Frontage Road is complete, crews will begin shouldering and striping the week of 8/10. Installation of electrical conduit and vaults continues north of I-70 from Spraddle Creek Road to the Public Works complex. Completion of project is estimated in September. Lionshead
Demolition start date is currently scheduled for September 15, 2026, completion of the work will take approximate 3 weeks. Construction/Excavation and shoring to follow pending approval of the building permit. Outlying
Comcast has hired Mastec Communication Group to bore new fiber from Bighorn Road, Meadow Drive to Main Gore Drive. Total bore is over 5000 ft. Traffic control will be provided. Work is scheduled to start on 08/25/26, scheduled completed date is 10/23/26. Contract personal is Mark Maestas, 303-944-8870. Town of Vail Contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.
The stucco work was recently completed and exterior painting should start this week. Electrical and Mechanical “trim out” are both underway inside the building. Once those 2 trades are done our plumbers will be back to install fixtures. Holy Cross is scheduled later this month to punch holes in new vault and we will pull new feeder cables to the new building. Subgrade work is underway under the canopy in preparation of our final concrete pours. The floor to the trash and recycle enclosure will be poured this week. The Town and VRD will collaborate on the asphalt parking lot in September to minimize impact to the field users. Vail Recreation District contact is Scott O’Connell, 970-477-5264.
North Recreation Path Improvements
Starting after Labor Day, the Town of Vail will begin the North Recreation Path Improvements project. The project limits are from the Pedestrian Overpass to Vail Run. Work consists of the construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Red Sandstone Creek, realignment of the pedestrian crossings to enhance safety for path users, and path resurfacing. A separated pedestrian detour will be set up along the N. Frontage Road for the duration of the project. The expected completion date is November 15, 2026. Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is completing a multi-year rehabilitation project on the below-grade water tank on Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Work could go through October. The ERWSD contact is Dan Duerr, 970-333-6773.
Main Gore Place Watermain Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing waterline replacements in the Gore Creek Meadows community located at 5020 Main Gore PL, in East Vail. The Racquet Club Townhomes, Gore Creek Meadows, and Sundial Communities will be experiencing truck and heavy equipment traffic, as well as infrequent water shutdowns which will be communicated prior to taking place. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Impacts to public roadways is expected to be minimal. The project is on track to be completed at the end of August. Booth Falls, 3035 Booth Falls Rd.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing emergency power upgrades to the facility located above the Booth Falls Trailhead (3035 Booth Falls Rd.) Pedestrian access will be maintained from the service gate to the trailhead. Ongoing activities include excavation and concrete work for a generator pad and electrical trenching across the service road to the transformer West of the parking area. Following that work, a standby generator will be installed to provide power to critical pumping and treatment facilities during extended power outages. West Vail Water Main Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District (ERWSD) is beginning an infrastructure improvement project in the West Vail Matterhorn neighborhood. This work will replace aging water and sanitary sewer mains along Geneva Drive, along with new water and sewer service lines connecting to the upgraded main.
This investment will ensure reliable water and sewer service for the community for decades to come. Construction will begin in August 2026 and will pause for the winter season, resuming in spring 2027. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Residents should expect temporary water outages and traffic impacts along Geneva Drive, Matterhorn Circle, and Upper Matterhorn Circle during construction. ERWSD will provide advanced notice to residents before any scheduled outage. We appreciate the community's patience as we work to minimize disruption while completing this essential upgrade. I-70 News
I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
Westbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between Vail Pass and East Vail, Mile Points 190 and 180, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. There will be a continuous lane closure from Monday, Aug. 17, through Wednesday, Aug. 19. Single-lane closures are also possible the morning of Saturday, Aug. 22, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. No night work is scheduled this week.
Eastbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between East Vail and Vail Pass, Mile Points 180 and 190, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day starting Monday, Aug. 17, through Friday, Aug. 21. Single-lane closures are also possible the morning of Saturday, Aug. 22, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. No night work is scheduled this week.
CDOT Maintenance Bridge Inspections
CDOT's Division of Maintenance & Operations will continue routine bridge inspections along West Vail Pass next week, which may require additional single-lane closures. Next week’s bridge inspections and lane closures are scheduled on eastbound I-70 from Monday, Aug. 17, through Thursday, Aug. 20.
