Join the celebration at a home dedication and recognition of Habitat for Humanity homeowners at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Timber Ridge Village, located at 1281 North Frontage Rd. in Vail. The event celebrates 35 Habitat homeowners’ move into permanently affordable homes in town.

The event will kick off with a gathering on the rooftop deck for views of the Gore Range then head to the block party with food and drinks. Attendees are asked to bus to the event or park at the Vail Post Office and walk over. RSVP by emailing events@habitatvailvalley.org.

The partnership to create Habitat homes for locals in Vail began in January 2024 when the Town of Vail, Eagle County, Triumph Development and Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley committed to partner to build ten homes at the Timber Ridge redevelopment. Two-and-a-half years later, the number has grown to 35 Habitat homeowners.

“It’s a super unique public-private-nonprofit partnership with two government entities, Triumph and Habitat,” said Town of Vail Housing Director Jason Dietz. “It was the first-of-its-kind partnership certainly within the Town of Vail and Eagle County. It sets the stage to become a model for other partnerships with Habitat to expand the affordability and continuum of housing. We couldn’t have that level of affordability without creative partnership.”

Creative partnerships help Habitat Vail Valley continue to build, so the people who make this community run can also live here: educators, first responders, grocery store workers, bus drivers and resort and hospitality employees.

“Eagle County was thrilled to partner with the Town of Vail, Triumph Development and Habitat Vail Valley to leverage all of our strengths to build foundations,” says Jill Klosterman, Eagle County CFO and Habitat Vail Valley board member. “Watching this project come to fruition has been so rewarding. These 35 new homeowners are part of our critical workforce who add to the vibrancy of our community.”

Habitat homeowners report better mental health, more money in their pockets and more time to volunteer, knowing the price they pay for housing every month will be no more than 30% of their income.

“In today’s economy, the thought of purchasing a home had become an almost impossible dream for us,” says a new Habitat homeowner, readying to purchase their new Timber Ridge home. “We love this community and were afraid we would have to leave for cheaper ground. A Habitat home lets us stay rooted where our friends, schools and memories are.”

“This project was a long time coming and was the catalyst for these partnerships, so it became a reality — not only for the 35 Habitat homeowners but for the 277 others who are calling Timber Ridge Village home,” says Emily Peyton, president and chief financial officer for Habitat Vail Valley. “They can work, live, play — build strong foundations — in Vail, ensuring community for the next generation.”
