Dobson Arena Remodel
Metal, stone and fascia continues to be applied to the exterior and landscape walls are being installed. Light fixtures are being hung in the arena bowl alongside the speaker installation as dryfall continues and the ice plant is brought online to cool the ice floor. Excitement is building for the grand opening, Dobson Arena is on track to begin programming and host a grand opening celebration in November. Contractor is Hyder McHugh Construction. Timber Ridge Village
Timber Ridge Village construction turns a corner this week, with several buildings reaching new stages of exterior and interior work. On site, crews begin shotcrete work on the exposed soil nail walls along the north retaining wall. Building A's irrigation and landscaping work continues. Building B begins garage door installation, and interior garage-level painting and trim work wrap up. Building C continues exterior painting, with stucco work wrapping up on the east elevation. Building D continues stucco work on the south and west elevations, while crews begin connecting the generator to the elevator and start installing the building's solar panel system. Building E continues metal siding installation on the exterior. Building G continues its irrigation and landscaping work, with garage door installation beginning toward the end of the week. Look for continued exterior progress and site work across the buildings as the project holds its steady pace into September.

Southface Vail (formerly West Middle Creek) Housing Development, 351 N. Frontage Road
This week at Southface Vail, work on nearly every level sets the stage for what comes next. On the third floor, the first deck section is finished off early in the week — tendons are cut, capped, and grouted. Right behind it, utility layout wraps up on the next third-floor section, and rebar work begins. On the second floor, forms come off the most recent deck section and its tendons are stressed, while shoring finishes on the next section, continuing the shift toward the west end of the building. At the ground level, floor work reaches its final section this week, with underground utility layout beginning at the west end of the building. On the hillside retaining wall to the north, drain installation wraps up on one section while nail drilling and grouting wrap up on the newest section further along. Vail Nature Center In-Stream Restoration
In-stream excavation for the partnership project between Town of Vail, Trout Unlimited and Colorado Parks and Wildlife will begin on Monday, August 10 and continue through September 30. Work will begin at the upstream end of the project reach closest to the property boundary with the Golf Course. Construction access will be from Vail Valley Drive down the access road to the Nature Center. Town of Vail Contact is Pete Wadden, 970-568-6753. Vail Village
298 Hanson Ranch Road - Base Camp
Work includes new deck and exterior improvements. Construction staging is contained within fencing and screen. Expect single-lane closure as needed for material delivery on Hanson Ranch Road with permit approval between 7 and 8:30 a.m. only. Completion date is scheduled for late-August/early September 2026. The 62, 278 Hanson Ranch Road (formerly Los Amigos)
Work includes complete renovation of the existing restaurant and prep kitchen and landscaping. Work is focused on interior work and new construction. Deliveries of materials will occur on Hanson Ranch Road/top of Bridge Street, morning hours only during the summer months as needed with Right-of-Way Permit approval only. All work is currently contained within the construction fence. Projected completion in November. The contractor is RA Nelson, Matt Johanningmeier, 970-401-0430.
Abatement and demolition of the existing First Bank building. Shoring, foundations and new structure to accommodate 4 high end condominiums, bank space on the first floor, a new Deed Restricted Unit and underground parking. Town of Vail utility work includes burying above ground power lines. Asphalt restoration of the Frontage Road is complete, crews will begin shouldering and striping the week of 8/10. Installation of electrical conduit and vaults continues north of I-70 from Spraddle Creek Road to the Public Works complex. Completion of project is estimated in September. Lionshead
500 E. Lionshead Circle. The Montelisse Project. Demolition of the Lions Pride Building
Demolition start date is currently scheduled for September 15, 2026, completion of the work will take approximate 3 weeks. Construction/Excavation and shoring to follow pending approval of the building permit. Outlying
Starting after Labor Day, the Town of Vail will begin the North Recreation Path Improvements project. The project limits are from the Pedestrian Overpass to Vail Run. Work consists of the construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Red Sandstone Creek, realignment of the pedestrian crossings to enhance safety for path users, and path resurfacing. A separated pedestrian detour will be set up along the N. Frontage Road for the duration of the project. The expected completion date is November 15, 2026. Holy Cross was on site for under 30 minutes as our Electric crew was thoroughly prepared and successfully pulled the primary electric cables from our new transformer to the new building. Wiring to the building passed inspection and we are now scheduled to energize the building. An exciting milestone. Exterior painting is nearing completion and our new trash enclosure doors will be delivered next week. Interior restroom partitions are also expected on-site next week with the install crew scheduled to install upon their arrival. Thermostats for new heating were also installed and once the building is energized, we will begin testing and balancing the heat and exhaust systems. The 1st phase of exterior landscaping is complete, and our golfers are enjoying the new wildflowers that are already blooming. Irrigation installation is scheduled to ensure that when the live roof is installed that we are prepared to support the plant material while being hypersensitive to our current drought conditions. Minimal water use may be needed unless mother nature continues to cooperate with the afternoon monsoons. The mason’s will be onsite next week to begin stonework on exterior elements around the shelter area and retaining wall. We are now starting to view the structure with a finishing lens and look forward decreasing our footprint in the parking lot. Vail Recreation District contact is Scott O’Connell, 970-477-5264.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is completing a multi-year rehabilitation project on the below-grade water tank on Potato Patch Drive. Trucks and other heavy equipment will be parked on the side of the road and activities may occasionally require traffic to travel in the opposite direction of the normal flow on Potato Patch Drive. Main Gore Place Watermain Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing waterline replacements in the Gore Creek Meadows community located at 5020 Main Gore PL, in East Vail. The Racquet Club Townhomes, Gore Creek Meadows, and Sundial Communities will be experiencing truck and heavy equipment traffic, as well as infrequent water shutdowns which will be communicated prior to taking place. Traffic control will be in place as needed throughout the project. Impacts to public roadways is expected to be minimal. The project is on track to be completed at the end of August. Booth Falls, 3035 Booth Falls Rd.
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is performing emergency power upgrades to the facility located above the Booth Falls Trailhead (3035 Booth Falls Rd.) Pedestrian access will be maintained from the service gate to the trailhead. Ongoing activities include excavation and concrete work for a generator pad and electrical trenching across the service road to the transformer West of the parking area. Following that work, a standby generator will be installed to provide power to critical pumping and treatment facilities during extended power outages. West Vail Water Main Improvements
Eagle River Water & Sanitation District (ERWSD) is beginning an infrastructure improvement project in the West Vail Matterhorn neighborhood. This work will replace aging water and sanitary sewer mains along Geneva Drive, along with new water and sewer service lines connecting to the upgraded main.
This investment will ensure reliable water and sewer service for the community for decades to come. Construction will begin in August 2026 and will pause for the winter season, resuming in spring 2027. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Residents should expect temporary water outages and traffic impacts along Geneva Drive, Matterhorn Circle, and Upper Matterhorn Circle during construction. ERWSD will provide advanced notice to residents before any scheduled outage. We appreciate the community's patience as we work to minimize disruption while completing this essential upgrade. I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lanes Project
Westbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between Vail Pass and East Vail, Mile Points 190 and 180, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day starting Monday, Aug. 31, through Friday, Sept. 4, concluding by 10 a.m. on Friday. No night work is scheduled this week.
Eastbound I-70
Various single-lane closures are possible between East Vail and Vail Pass, Mile Points 180 and 190, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day starting Monday, Aug. 31, through Friday, Sept. 4, concluding by 10 a.m. on Friday. No night work is scheduled this week.
