The Town of Vail will join unincorporated Eagle County, most of the White River National Forest and the Upper Colorado River District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in moving down from Stage 2 fire restrictions beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4. While Eagle County has a tier of restrictions below Stage 1, Vail operates at the equivalent of the county’s Stage 1 fire restrictions year-round.
Stage 2 restrictions have been in place since June 26. Recent rain has reduced wildfire concerns and predicted weather patterns led officials to reduce the restrictions in place.
Vail Fire & Emergency Services is still asking the public to remain cautious and vigilant. Under Stage 1 fire restrictions in Vail, community members are permitted to use portable outdoor fire pits, charcoal grills and smokers as long as they are used away from flammable vegetation with a way to extinguish the flames if necessary.
