Meetings

The 9-member Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council meets on the third Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. If you'd like to attend please email VLMDAdmin@vail.gov to be added to the distribution list.

Responsibilities

The mission of the VLMDAC is to market and promote Vail to attract overnight guests, focusing on the May – October time frame, creating economic vitality by increasing both the visitor base and sales tax revenues. The VLMDAC aligns to the strategic goals of the town council.

The purview of the VLMDAC was recently expanded by resolution to provide strategic direction for the activities of the town’s tourism and economic development department, to include:

1. Organization, promotion, marketing, and management of public events;
2. Activities in support of business recruitment, management, and development;
3. Coordinating tourism promotion activities;
4. Facilitating and enhancing visitor experiences.

The VLMDAC general meetings are currently the third Thursday of every month at 8:30 A.M, with special meetings from time to time.

Public Notice

The Vail Town Council  is accepting letters of interest for four (4) vacant positions that exist on the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council (VLMDAC). The four positions are available from January 1, 2026 and expiring December 31, 2027. One of the vacant seats is designated for a marketing representative from Vail Mountain/Vail Resorts.

 Per C.R.S. 29-5-111 General powers of district. (1)(g) All applicants must be "owners of property within the boundaries of the district," which includes, by definition, corporations or entities which own property "within the boundaries of the district."  Should a ‘corporate person’ be appointed to the VLMDAC, it would then be up to that entity to appoint its designee in writing.  Additionally, owners of "taxable personal property" will be considered for appointment.

Per Resolution No. 2, Series of 2024, the VLMDAC is to be comprised of nine members and includes both at large and corporate persons. Of the nine seats, one is to be designated for a Town Council member (currently Councilperson Sam Biszantz) and one seat is to be designated for a marketing representative from Vail Mountain/Vail Resorts (to be determined).

Once a year in December, interested persons will apply for open seat and be interviewed in person at the town council 12/16 afternoon meeting, with a final selection being made during the evening meeting.  Persons interested in serving on the VLMDAC must complete and submit the application.
