Note: If you submit electronic plans/documents for review, you will receive an invitation to upload the information directly to ProjectDox once your application has been reviewed for completeness. If you are submitting paper plans/documents, please feel free to drop them off at the Community Development Department.
Available Permits in OpenGov:
Construction Permit -Town of Vail Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical Permit Applications.
Electrical Permit - Town of Vail Electrical Permit Application. CRS 12-23-106 requires field verification of licensing and registration for all contractors performing electrical work.
Fire Permit - Town of Vail Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Permit Applications.
Expedited Permits - These permits encompass both the Design Review Board and the Building Permit approval process. All submittal requirements are due at the time of application in order to proceed with this permit.

- Water Heater Replacement - Single Family/Duplex
Solar Thermal/Photovoltaic Systems - Please note that Design Review Board approval is required before starting the permit process.

Public Way Permit - PDF Application
Use this permit if your work will be performed in any of these areas: in the right-of-way, easements, public property, utility work needed, driveway improvements, drainage, and/or staging, parking or fencing.
Soil Nail License Agreement
Standard license agreement necessary to allow temporary soil nail excavation shoring to occur within Public Lands.
Sidewalk/Streetscape & Snowmelt
Maintenance agreement required for all public streetscape and snowmelt systems that are privately run and/or constructed.
Floodplain Use Permit Required for all temporary grading within the 100 Yr. Floodplain. (See Town Code Title 12-21)
Revisions, changes and deferred submittals for permits require a completed transmittal (revision) form prior to submitting revised, changed and/or new documents through our OpenGov software.

Permits are required when a structure is erected, constructed, enlarged, altered, repaired, moved, improved, removed, converted or demolished. Any exterior work performed on a structure must first obtain Design Review Board approval prior to submitting a permit.
