JUROR SUMMONS ISSUED

If you have received a juror summons from the Town of Vail Municipal Court, you do NOT need to report.

Trial Status: Vacated, Jurors do NOT need to appear. The trial has been canceled.

Qualifications for Jury Service 

Following are the qualifications to serve on a jury in Vail Municipal Court. Any summonsed jurors that fail to meet all these requirements.

  1. You must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. You must reside within Vail town limits.
  3. You must be a citizen of the United States.
  4. You must be able to read, speak and understand the English language.
  5. If you have sole responsibility for the daily care of a permanently disabled person living in the same household and if your jury service would cause substantial risk of injury to the health of the disabled person, you may not be required to perform jury duty. Please submit a statement from your doctor to the court clerk before Friday, March 27, 2026.
  6. If you have a physical or mental disability that would affect your ability to serve as juror, you are not required to perform jury duty. Please submit a statement from your doctor to the court clerk before Friday, March 27, 2026.

Please contact the Court to be excused only if you have a serious conflict with this date or do not meet the requirements listed above. The Court, prosecution and defense, appreciates your willingness to serve in this capacity. Municipal Court trials are typically only one day. Free juror parking is available in front of the municipal building.

This webpage will be updated with the trial status if the trial is cancelled. The voicemail message at 970-479-2129 will be updated on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, after 5 p.m. to identify if the case is still active or if the trial has been cancelled.

Vail Municipal Court is a limited jurisdiction court of record, established to hear violations of the ordinances of the Town of Vail.

These ordinances involve criminal offenses; traffic violations; animal control; waste materials and the environment; municipal sales tax; and motor vehicle parking.

Vail Police officers can write tickets into Vail Municipal Court as well as Eagle County Court. The information on this site applies only to Vail Municipal Court. Please check your summons to see in what Court the summons is filed. Please check for.

Citations begin with the letters VPD, followed by 6 numbers. Check Vail Municipal Court name and address to determine the jurisdiction of your court appearance like the example below.

The court also manages warrants, probation, accounting and administration. Court clerks by law are not allowed to give legal advice but will answer procedural questions for defendants. Jurisdiction is exercised over juvenile and adult offenders. Court offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 970-479-2129 to confirm lunch hour.

Penalty assessment tickets may be resolved by mailing in the ticket with a fine payment while some charges require a mandatory court appearance. Be sure to read your ticket carefully. Court is held the first and third Thursday of the month with the schedule as follows:

  • arraignments in the mornings with traffic at 9:30 a.m. and general ordinance violations at 10 a.m.
  • pre-trial conferences with the town prosecutor are held from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Hearings and dispositions are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. and trials to the court are held at 2:30 p.m.
  • Juvenile and animal control sessions are held the first and third Fridays of each month, with juvenile violators appearing at 10 a.m. and animal control violators appearing at 11 a.m.
  • Jury trials are set on select Fridays, when necessary.

The courtroom and prosecutor's office are located on the second floor of the Vail Municipal Center. The court offices are located on the first floor. Parking is located directly west of the building's entrance. It is recommended that attendees make alternative childcare arrangements since no childcare is offered on site.

Basic protocol for the courtroom includes: no food or beverages; wear appropriate attire including shirt, shoes and removal of hats; persons in the courtroom should remain seated and quiet; cell phones and pagers must be turned off; and unrelated materials such as books, magazines and newspapers should not be read when court is in session.
