Short-Term Rentals In Vail

A short-term rental (STR) is a residential dwelling unit, or any room therein, available for lease for a term of less than 30 consecutive days but excluding bed and breakfast and accommodation units. Before you advertise and operate a STR property within the Town of Vail boundary, you are required to have an approved STR license.

For step-by-step instructions, view the short-term rental license application guide.
To print your approved STR license, view the how to print you license steps.

If applicable, your property will require a fire inspection. To ensure your property is ready, thoroughly review the STR Safety Inspection Checklist.

Note: The Town of Vail offers three different STR Licenses which currently expire Feb. 28, 2026:

Individual Property Owners
Professional Property Managers
On-Site 24/7 Front Desk Managed
