Once wires have be run, gang boxes are properly installed, and  any additional items required for alarm installation, a rough inspection is required before any insulation, wall and ceiling materials are installed. See below to schedule:

• Alarm contractor/installer and the general contractor or a representative shall be present onsite at the time of the scheduled inspection
• A copy of the approved plans must be available onsite at the time of inspection for reference purposes
• Any discrepancies or failures with installation, will require additional inspection.
• Third failure will result in an additional inspection fee at $105.00

The following will be required for a final inspection to occur and to receive a ‘PASS’ from the fire department. Conditionals may be granted on case-by case basis. See below to schedule:

• Fire alarm system has been 100% tested by fire alarm contractor prior to scheduling the inspection 
• Work is complete with the occupancy. All sub-contractor(s), construction materials cleared, and finishes are complete; landscaping or similar work is allowed
• The occupancy must have gone through final cleaning . It is preferred that the occupancy does have furniture and fixtures in place at time of final inspection. The occupancy is ready to be occupied for purposes of either sleeping, business, or other.(NFPA 72 – 17.7.1.11.3)
• All system devices are in place, dust covers removed, and system has been taken offline.
• All detection devices, system, and sprinkler system tamper/flows have been tested and are working properly.
• A System Record of Completion document meeting the requirements of NFPA 71 7.5.6 shall be emailed in advance to: fireinspections@vailgov.com with the permit number. Examples can be found in NFPA 72, Figure 7.8.2(a) and A.7.8.2(1)(a)
• When applicable, all required IFC and NFPA signage is properly labeled and installed
• Occupancy address numbers are installed and are clearly visible from the street meeting the requirements of the adopted International Fire Code (IFC 505)
• Vail Fire Community Connect emergency information file has been created about property; this should by filled out by owner or responsible party. If contractor is filling out information for owner, be sure to work with owners to create their own login information.
• Knox box has been installed, cleaned from construction materials, and key is ready at time of fire alarm testing
