The mission of the Vail Valley Public Service Explorers program is to introduce and educate youths to to the world of public safety careers, increase their involvement in the community, provide valuable life skills and build character. Through their involvement the explorer establishes an awareness of the complexities of the many public safety career paths and gains knowledge of how public safety functions in their community, whether they decide to enter the field or not.

The VVPSE program encompasses Police, Fire, Emergency Medical, Mountain Rescue, Mental Health and Dispatch operations. The program involves a multitude of related agencies, ensuring broad exposure to and including contributions from, but not limited to, the following agencies:

  • Vail Police Department
  • Avon Police Department
  • Eagle Police Department
  • Eagle County Sheriff's Office
  • Colorado State Patrol
  • Vail Fire and Emergency Services
  • Eagle River Fire Protection District
  • Greater Eagle Fire Protection District
  • Gypsum Fire Protection District
  • Eagle County Airport Fire and Rescue
  • Vail Public Safety Communication Center
  • Vail Ski Patrol
  • Vail Mountain Rescue
  • Your Hope Center
  • SpeakUp ReachOut
  • Youth Power 365

Schedule: Twice a month on Wednesday evenings from 4:00pm to 5:30pm during the school year. (Contact a Post Advisor for details.)
