Speeding is a primary contributor to traffic accidents and can compromise the safety of both residents and visitors.

The Town of Vail will use an Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS) to issue speeding tickets in two locations in town. The use of the AVIS program is an effort to decrease speed, improve traffic safety and prevent crashes and save lives

What You Need to Know

Signs on Frontage Road indicate speed cameras in use.

The Town of Vail has adopted an ordinance authorizing the use of an Automated Vehicle Identification System (AVIS) to issue speeding tickets at two locations in the Town of Vail.

The program is designed to improve road safety, reduce violations and enhance community well-being.

Speed cameras are not about revenue. They are about making sure people get home safely. By encouraging safer driving habits, we all create a community that values responsibility, awareness and care for one another.

With this program we aim to provide consistent, unbiased enforcement: automated cameras enforce traffic laws objectively and consistently, without human bias.
