Project Begins Sept. 2, 2025
The Gore Creek Promenade is a popular public space in the heart of Vail Village. The park is showing signs of significant wear and tear and is in need of improvements and durable surfaces.
The Town of Vail has awarded a contract to Coleman Custom Homes, LTD for the construction and upgrades of the Gore Creek Promenade, with an anticipated completion in the spring of 2026.

Background
The park, between the International Bridge and Up the Creek restaurant along the south bank of Gore Creek, is popular with residents and guests who frequent the busy shops, galleries and restaurants. Families enjoy the turf area and easy access to Gore Creek.
The park includes a roughly 3,000 square-foot turf area that serves as the main gathering space, stone steps that provide access to a small “beach” and Gore Creek, a natural gas fire pit that operates during winter, and several large planting areas with mature spruce, fir, aspen and native shrubs.
The last significant upgrades to the Gore Creek Promenade area were made nearly 30 years ago. Recent observations on the Promenade have included worn-out turf areas due to heavy use, dead and diseased vegetation, inconsistent seating arrangements, streambank erosion and other minor issues.
Project Overview
The goal of the project is to address significant wear and tear in the popular park while improving park deficiencies such as lack of seating, improving access to Gore Creek, and ensuring the park is accessible for those with a disability or mobility impairment. The design project began with an on-site public Open House in September 2024, followed by six Town Council meetings, three Design Review Board meetings, several Engage Vail surveys and input from business owners and the public. Construction drawings and bid documents were prepared between March and June.
The renewal project includes:
- New seating options throughout the park
-
Improved access to Gore Creek
- Durable surfaces such as paver and flagstone walkways
-
Art installations including a new granite fire feature
- Natural turf areas
- Accessibility for those with impaired mobility
- New landscaping
The total cost of the project is approximately $2.1 million, with the project budget split between the approved 2025 budget and the proposed 2026 budget as part of the 5-Year Budget Plan.
The project will be performed Sept. 2 - Nov.13 (weather permitting). Work will resume April 20 - June 26.
